Description
Rapid shutdown kits are a key safety requirement for solar power systems, and are responsible for shutting down and de-energizing those systems in emergency situations. In case of fire, power loss, or another emergency the SolarEdge Rapid Shutdown Kit can drop the voltage in your system to under 30 volts in just 10 seconds. This protects your property from electrical surges in natural disasters, and ensures first responders can safely access your home from the roof, if needed.
While you may hope you never face a situation in which a rapid shutdown is necessary, it’s vital not to cut corners when choosing a rapid shutdown kit for your system. The SolarEdge Rapid Shutdown Kit is a top-of-the-line piece of equipment, with 5 rapid shutdown cable sets, 5 DC terminal blocks, a micro-SD card with firmware, an SD card adapter, and clear instructions for easy setup:
- Power Down the System – Ensure all parts of your system are off and de-energized before starting any work.
- Install the Cables and Terminal Blocks – Open the inverter enclosure to access the inverter’s DC terminals. Connect the included rapid shutdown cables and DC terminal blocks according to the wiring diagram provided in the manual.
- Update Inverter Firmware – Insert the supplied micro-SD card into the SD card adapter and load the firmware onto the inverter. This ensures your inverter is fully compatible with the rapid shutdown function.
- Secure All Connections – Double-check proper connection order, tighten all terminals, and ensure the built-in resistor connections are properly and completely seated.
