The SMA Backup Select Automatic Transfer Switch (MPN: BU-SLCT-US-50) is an automatic transfer switch and load management solution designed to work with SMA Sunny Boy Smart Energy (SBSE) hybrid inverters. The system allows homeowners to select up to 7 critical 120 V circuits to automatically power during a grid outage directly from solar panels when the sun is out, or add an energy storage battery for 24 hours of continuous backup.

Equipped with an integrated critical load subpanel, this unit automatically transfers selected branch circuits away from the utility grid during power interruptions. Depending on the paired inverter model, it delivers up to 3,840 W of backup power with SBSE 3.8 to SBSE 7.7 units and up to 5,760 W with SBSE 9.6/11.5 models, all housed in a weatherproof NEMA 3R enclosure certified to UL, FCC, and NEMA safety standards.
