The Enphase SSTART-16-32A Soft Starter is a specialized single-phase motor control device designed to dramatically reduce high locked-rotor inrush currents (LRA) during HVAC compressor and heavy motor startups. Engineered for air conditioning systems, heat pumps, and water pumps, this accessory is essential for residential solar PV and battery backup systems.
By gradually ramping up input voltage during motor initialization, the soft starter eliminates grid/battery voltage sag, protects mechanical compressor components, and enables solar battery systems to start heavy HVAC loads without triggering inverter overload faults.
