The Enphase SSTART-08-16A-1P-230V Soft Starter is a single-phase motor control device engineered to manage high locked-rotor inrush currents (LRA) in 230 VAC HVAC compressors, heat pumps, and water pumps. Featuring a clean white enclosure, this device integrates seamlessly with Enphase energy storage microgrids to protect backup inverters from overload trips during heavy appliance startups.
Powered by advanced voltage-throttling technology, it ramps motor voltage smoothly over a fraction of a second. This controlled ramp-up enables power-hungry motors to start reliably on solar and battery power, eliminates house-wide voltage dips, and reduces mechanical strain on compressor assemblies.
